Aruna Technology wins lead role in JICA PDAC Project - March 2007 - Current

Aruna Technology Ltd. in a Joint Venture with Earth Systems Lao have won a tender to implement the JICA-funded Pilot Project for Development of Survey Method for Identification of Potential Degraded Forestland Area for Conversion Through Remote Sensing. Aruna will take the lead role in implementing the project with ESL providing local consulting services and support. The JICA PDAC Project will develop, test and evaluate a methodology suitable for wider application in Lao PDR for identifying potential forest land for conversion to plantations and assessment of existing plantation sites. It will address an urgent need to provide improved mapping of rural areas and build capacity for the staff to undertake the work.

Update; 18 May 2007, Aruna Technology Ltd are happy to announce they have successfully completed Phase 1 of the JICA PDAC Project. The Pilot Project has confirmed the efficacy of Arunas integrated application of SPOT5 satellite imagery, Garmin GPS, PCI Geomatica image processing software and Red Hen geo-videography to address the requirements of the Department of Forestry.

Aruna designs and implements web based The Atlas of Cambodia - December 2006 - May 2007

Aruna was commissioned by DFID and DANIDA to implement an online version of their published atlas of Cambodia. The system was to contain all GIS data sets collected by DANIDA to date and allows non-expert users to access and analyze the data via an intuitive web interface. The system would utilize Mango. Mango is an advanced web based GIS system produced by Christopher Brown and the Aruna software department in house and is the first system of its kind to be produced in its entirety in Southeast Asia. The software was built with the aim to bring GIS functionality which was previously only available to people with expert GIS software knowledge to the web via an interface that could be operated by non-expert computer uses with no prior knowledge of GIS. Aruna Technology conducts pre-feasibility Study for the Development of Potential Bauxite Resources - December 2006 - Current

Aruna Technology has been contracted to provide a full range of consulting services to Mitsubishi Corporation and BHP Billiton. These JV partners have signed a mineral exploration agreement with the Royal Government of Cambodia to explore for Bauxite and to evaluate the potential for an alumina refinery. The agreement requires a detailed evaluation of the Mondulkiri exploration licences in Eastern Cambodia to determine resource size and quality, environmental and community issues, risks from unexploded ordinances, and the appropriate mining, processing and transport options. Aruna will From data compilation and digitization, satellite imagery, onsite GIS support and GPS hardware supply and training.

Aruna Technology conducts topographic mapping of Kamchay Hydro-electric Project - September 2006 - Current

Aruna Technology, in conjunction with joint venture partners Blom Aerofilms, were engaged to conduct an aerial photography survey of the Kamchay Hydroelectric Project. This approach was selected due to the remoteness of the site, poor road access and unexploded ordinances. The outputs of the project include 25cm resolution digital imagery and a highly accurate Digital Terrain Model (DTM) to support the development of the site for hydro-electricity production.

Aruna Technology awarded contract for Punley Sub-Project - July 2006

Aruna Technology Ltd. is pleased to announce that we have been awarded the tender to implement the design, construction supervision and support for the Punley Sub-Project. This is the first irrigation investment to be undertaken within the Northwest Irrigation Sector Project at the Ministry of Water Resources and Meteorology. The project is funded by the Asian Development Bank and is expected to run for five years.

This orthophoto is the most accurate and detailed imagery ever taken of Phnom Penh and offers a wealth of information for infrastructure management, security planning, taxation assessment and urban planning.

Aruna Technology Ltd. completes sale of 15 SPOT 5 scenes to Royal Government of Cambodia (RGC) - 17th March 2006

The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) have purchased 2.5m resolution color satellite imagery over parts of Cambodia on behalf of the RGC. The imagery covers Kandal, Phnom Penh, Takeo, Battambang and Siem Reap provinces and will provide an up-to-date picture of the land, to assist in various planning and management projects. Cost effectiveness and a short delivery timeline were major reasons for the acquisition.
